Gwinnett Man Who Stabbed Woman 15 Times Headed To Prison

The victim died while she was on the phone with a 911 operator.

LAWRENCEVILLE, GA — A Gwinnett County man will spend the rest of his life in prison after stabbing his ex-girlfriend's sister 15 times, killing her.

Alfredo Hilario Allen, 32, was convicted by a jury on charges of murder, felony murder, aggravated assault, aggravated battery and possession of a weapon during the commission of a felony.

On Nov. 9, 2015, Erin McKinney called 911 from an apartment in Norcross, telling the operator that she had been stabbed. She would ultimately die while on the line with the 911 operator.

Erin's sister, Candice, had tried to shield her sister from the attack and was also stabbed several times on her chest, arms, back and legs. She ran to get help and was found bleeding after collapsing on a nearby stairwell.

Candice told officers that Allen, her ex-boyfriend, was the attacker. She had ended the relationship after multiple instances of domestic violence and asked Allen to leave their home.

Police found Allen a short time after the attack. During an interview, he told officers he thought Erin was responsible for his relationship troubles with Candice. At trial, he changed his story and said he was defending himself from Erin, who attacked him before the stabbing.

He had never told detectives he was attacked and no other evidence during his five-day trial, which ended Friday, supported the theory of self-defense. Judge Howard E. Cook sentenced Allen to life without parole, plus 25 years, in prison.
