Man Swept Downriver in Chattahoochee Found Safe
Four men and a woman set out for shore from an island near Jones Bridge Park when the 26-year-old man was swept away by the current.

The man who was swept downriver trying to swim to shore from an island in the Chattahoochee River has been located.
That’s according to City of Johns Creek spokesman Doug Nurse, who said the man was located at his home in Gwinnett County early Tuesday.

A search set to resume at 7 a.m. Tuesday was cancelled, Nurse said.

The 26-year-old man was one of four men and a woman who set out for shore Monday night from an island near Jones Bridge Park. The current swept him away from the others. The woman was the only one wearing a life jacket, Nurse stated.
Swift Water Rescue units from the Johns Creek Fire Department, Roswell Fire Department and Gwinnett County Fire Department searched until 1 a.m. Tuesday for the missing man.
