Peachtree Corners Man Catches Suspects Checking Out His Home

Inside the police reports: They were "just checking to see if anyone was home."

A Peachtree Corners man believes he interrupted two men who were casing his house for a burglary.

According to a Gwinnett Police incident report obtained by Patch, the Lockridge Drive homeowner told police he saw the men come out of a wooded area between his home and Ashley Lakes Apartments on a recent Friday afternoon. This is an area in Peachtree Corners near the DeKalb County line.

He said the men walked to his patio and one of them started up the steps, while the other appeared to be a lookout and was taking cell-phone pictures of the house.

The homeowner asked the man coming onto the patio what he was doing on his property. “Just checking to see if anyone was home,” he said, according to the incident report.

The man seemed nervous, the homeowner said, and left with the other man back into the woods.

Police said in the incident report that officers checked out the wooded area and saw a trail that led to the apartment complex.

No suspects have been arrested, though the homeowner took photos of the men with his cell phone.
