Peachtree Corners Passes New Gun Ordinance
Firing a gun in residential areas, except for the purpose of self-defense, is now illegal in the city.

PEACHTREE CORNERS, GA — Firing a gun in a residential area of Peachtree Corners is now illegal, unless it's done in self-defense.
The city's mayor and council approved a revised firearms ordinance Tuesday night.
Under the new ordinance, residents may fire a weapon to defend themselves or their property. But all other firearm use in residential areas is prohibited, due to safety concerns.

"Over the past several months, we received emails and phone calls and tonight have also heard from a number of our residents," said Peachtree Corners Mayor Mike Mason. "The council has listened to everyone’s
input and as a result, I believe we’ve crafted an ordinance that balances citizen’s safety with property rights. The amended ordinance is also consistent with state law."
The law does not apply to the use of BB guns or air pellet rifles and does not prohibit law enforcement officers from firing their weapons in the line of duty.
