Police: Gwinnett Double Shooting Was Attempted Murder-Suicide

Police are saying the double shooting that left one person dead and another wounded Sunday night in Gwinnett County was an attempted murder-suicide.

Police said Richard Drummond, 66, was found dead inside the residence at 1458 Legrand Circle near Lawrenceville. His wife, Janie Drummond, 61, was wounded and taken to the hospital.

The Medical Examiner’s Office determined that Richard Drummond’s injury was self-inflicted and his death was ruled a suicide. Richard Drummond shot Janie Drummond before shooting himself.

Police responded to the home around 10:30 p.m. Sunday on a report that two people were shot. Preliminary findings suspected the shootings were “the result of a domestic dispute between the husband and wife,” police said in a Monday news release.
