Pablo A. Bermudez, 20, was killed in the robbery attempt. Two other suspects were earlier arrested.
The incident happened just before midnight Monday at the Valencia Apartments on Springs Lane in Peachtree Corners, when the resident encountered three males at the door of his ground-floor apartment. He had armed himself after seeing three to five males near the back patio of his apartment.

He told police he answered a knock at the door and saw three males in the breezeway asking to come outside, but he declined to let them in.
“According to the victim, as he was attempting to shut the door, the suspects pushed the door open,” Gwinnett Police Cpl. Michele Pihera said in a news release. “The victim fired his gun striking at least two of the suspects.”
The two other suspects were arrested Tuesday, police said. John Michael Bush, 32, and Saveion Wylie Bush, 33, have been charged with first degree home invasion, aggravated assault and felony murder. They are related, but police said their kinship was not immediately known.
Police say John Bush arrived at Gwinnett Medical Center-Duluth with a gunshot wound to his arm after the incident. Saveion Bush also was at the hospital, but wasn’t injured. Police say he may have driven the injured suspect to the hospital.
They were arrested at the hospital.
