The United Peachtree Corners Civic Association said on Facebook that the proceeds from the “Food and Wine Pairing to Benefit Cindy Martinez” on July 30 will go to helping the family with mounting medical bills.

Martinez has been battling the flesh-eating bacteria and its effects since late May, when she first went to the hospital with shoulder pain. It is not known how she contracted the bacteria.

David Martinez was on hand for the Peachtree Corners fundraiser held at the Atlanta Bread Company.
