15th Annual North Atlanta Interfaith Prayer Breakfast
The public is welcome to attend the North Atlanta Interfaith Prayer Breakfast. Keynote speaker Alana Shepherd.
The Rotary Club of North Fulton is pleased to welcome Alana Shepherd as the keynote speaker at its Fifteenth Annual North Atlanta Interfaith Prayer Breakfast on Thursday, May 5th, 2016 at 7:30 a.m. at The Metropolitan Club in Alpharetta, Georgia. Alana Shepherd and her family co-founded Shepherd Center in Atlanta in 1975 to treat spinal cord injury. Through the years, Shepherd Center has grown from a six bed facility to a world-renowned rehabilitation hospital specializing in medical treatment, research and rehabilitation for people with spinal cord injury, brain injury and other neurological conditions. Alana, along with her husband Harold and their son James, founded Shepherd Center after James sustained a paralyzing spinal cord injury in 1973. Frustrated by the lack of state-of-the-art rehabilitation care in the southeastern United States, the family galvanized support among the Atlanta community to open a specialty facility.
The North Atlanta Interfaith Prayer Breakfast is an event that involves several different faiths and is held on the National Day of Prayer, the first Thursday in May. The purpose of the prayer breakfast is to provide a forum to celebrate and honor America’s National Day of Prayer. Past keynote speakers have included Ambassador Andrew Young, Millard Fuller, Mark Richt, Bill Curry, Dr. Betty Siegel, Col. Michael Steele and Jenny Pruitt. The Rotary Club of North Fulton welcomes members of the community to attend this event.
With more than 1.2 million members in more than 33,000 clubs worldwide, Rotary club members are volunteers who work locally, regionally, and internationally to combat hunger, improve health and sanitation, provide education and job training, promote peace and eradicate polio under the motto of “Service Above Self.”
