First, today's weather:

Here are the top five stories today in Roswell:

  1. According to Appen Media, between Jun. 1 and Jun. 16, there have been eight incident reports filed for the Economy Hotel, located at 9995 Old Dogwood Road in Roswell. Incidents included alleged criminal trespass, battery, theft, and aggravated assault with a firearm. Another incident was when Roswell police and the North Fulton SWAT arrested 38-year-old Benjamin Donald Gunby on Jun. 11 for the death of a 45-year-old Roswell woman, Kimberly Briggs, at the hotel. Gunby faces two counts of murder, battery, aggravated assault (family violence), and aggravated battery and is being held at the Fulton County Jail. (Appen Media)
  2. Yesterday, Jun. 24, just hours after the U.S. Supreme Court overturned Roe v. Wade, Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis said she will not prosecute abortion cases. Willis said, "It is my responsibility as the elected District Attorney to set priorities for the use my office's resources. I will not be using precious tax dollars allocated to this office to pursue prosecutions based on women's personal healthcare choices." (The Atlanta Journal Constitution)
  3. The City of Roswell has accepted a proposal from the nonprofit, North Fulton Community Charities, to construct a Roswell pedestrian crosswalk. The nonprofit will donate and install a pedestrian crossing to connect NFCC facilities on either side of Elkins Road to improve pedestrian safety. (The Atlanta Journal Constitution)
  4. The City of Roswell announced online scheduled system maintenance for today, Jun. 25 through Monday, Jun. 27. City online services will be offline and inaccessible between 11:00 p.m. today through 7:00 a.m. on Sunday and again between 11:00 p.m. on Sunday through 7:00 a.m. on Monday. Bank auto-pay payments will not be affected. (Roswell Gov)
  5. The Fulton County School Nutrition Program provides free meal service for children in the community during the summer months. Children do not need to be enrolled in Fulton County Schools to participate. One of the designated locations is Roswell High School, located at 11595 King Road in Roswell. (Fulton Schools)
