Albers Honored by Georgia Association Of Chiefs Of Police

ROSWELL, GA — State Senator John Albers was honored by the Georgia Association of Chiefs of Police for his leadership as chairman of the Senate Public Safety Committee and his commitment to members of the public safety community, particularly in law enforcement.

Frank V. Rotondo, executive director of the GACP, and Warden Dennis Nelson, president of the GACP and Warden for the Clayton County Correctional Institution, presented the award to Sen. Albers earlier this month.

“Although they honored me with an award, their members are the true heroes who put their lives on the line every day to protect our citizens and local communities,” said Sen. Albers, a Republican from Roswell. “I am grateful to be recognized by this distinguished organization and look forward to working with them in the future to ensure the Senate passes legislation that will positively impact our public safety community.”

“As chairman of the Senate Public Safety Committee, Sen. Albers serves as a tireless advocate on behalf of the law enforcement community,” Rotondo said. “He was instrumental in getting legislation passed that will benefit our members and secured funding in the 2019 fiscal year budget for training purposes. Sen. Albers serves as a chairman and senator who doesn’t put politics first, but the people whose lives will be impacted by the legislation he is championing.”

Sen. Albers worked with members of the Senate Public Safety Committee to pass legislation supported by the GACP during the 2018 session. While serving as the chair of the Senate Criminal Justice and Public Safety Appropriations Subcommittee, he was able to help secure line-item funding that will assist the GACP with contemporary training and restoring funding that was removed in 2004.
