Art Eckman Receives Edward R. Murrow Award
Art Eckman, board member for Roswell-based enAble of Georgia and iconic sportscaster,was awarded the Edward R. Murrow Achievement Award.
Art Eckman, board member for enAble of Georgia since 1987, and famous broadcaster for over four decades, has been awarded the Edward R. Murrow Hall of Achievement Award.
Most famously known for being the voice of Supercross and Motocross, Art has established himself as one of the most versatile broadcasters in the business. A fixture at the national level while enjoying a 20-year career at ESPN, Art is locally known for his work as Sports Director at WXIA-TV where he was part of the 11-Alive sports team for 13 years.
Having worked for numerous professional teams including the Atlanta Hawks, Atlanta Dream, Houston Rockets, Oakland Raiders, and San Francisco Giants, Art’s career has spanned numerous mediums and organizations. Art began working with Kennesaw State University in 2009, his return to the collegiate landscape after previously spending time with Georgia Tech, Oregon State and Stanford.

Last week, Whisky Mistress, a new bar in Atlanta, threw a party to congratulate Art on his years of dedication to broadcasting. Art & Donna Eckman have two daughters, one of whom has been served by enAble for many years. Proceeds from the event went to enAble of Georgia, and enAble wishes to congratulate Art on his achievements and dedication to the organization!
enAble of Georgia is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization founded in 1979 and headquartered in Roswell. The agency was started by a group of parents concerned about the future of their adult children with developmental disabilities. Primary diagnoses of those served by enAble include: autism, cerebral palsy, down syndrome, mild/moderate to severe/profound intellectual disability.
