ArtAround Roswell To Host Free Monthly Events
ArtAround Roswell is the city's very first sculpture tour, providing the community with an interactive way of experiencing public art.

ROSWELL, GA -- Roswell’s Historic & Cultural Affairs Division has released the final lineup of free monthly events for ArtAround Roswell, the city’s inaugural sculpture tour.
The events are hosted in partnership with the Roswell Arts Fund as a way to educate and engage citizens throughout the ArtAround program. Each event highlights a different piece of art along the tour and is tied directly to the history, medium, or subject matter of the sculpture, the city said.
“These beautiful and interesting sculptures are living in our community for nine whole months, and we want citizens to stay engaged and excited for the duration of the tour," said Katherine Jones, Cultural Services manager for Roswell. "The monthly events are designed to pique the interest of arts novices and enthusiasts no matter where their other interests lie. We have everything from a glass blowing demonstration to a STE(A)M Truck Maker Mobile to a living history performance of historic Roswell Mill workers. There really is something for everyone.”

The remaining monthly events include:
- Aug. 12: Lunchbox Gallery with Michael Dillon at Roswell Visual Arts Center, noon: Join local artist Michael Dillon at the Roswell Visual Arts Center for the monthly “Lunchbox Gallery.” In this “lunch and learn” series, you’ll enjoy a simple, free lunch and a look into the process and experiences of the artist who sculpted “Avian,” which sits at the Roswell Area Park Lake. This talk will last about an hour in a very casual and welcoming environment. This event is great for aspiring artists or those just wanting to learn about how an artist works. No registration necessary; this event is free and open to the public.
- Sept. 10: STE(A)M Truck Maker Mobile sponsored by Publix Super Markets Charities, noon to 5 p.m.: Make something great with Community Guild, Inc.’s STE(A)M Truck at Don White Park. Community Guilds, Inc. is a Georgia non-profit committed to closing the opportunity gap in public education by providing transformational maker space experiences. Through high-interest, hands-on, collaborative work, they engage students to create a lasting interest and foundation in STEAM (science, technology, engineering, arts, and math) content and practices. The truck will be onsite from noon to 5 p.m., and will work with 20 students at a time. Sessions begin every 30 minutes, and sign-ups will be available beginning at noon.
- Oct. 22: Bike Roswell Bicycle Safety Expo, noon to 3 p.m.: Learn about bicycle safety from the local group, Bike Roswell. While our city enjoys several bike trails, bike lanes, and bike accessible areas, not everyone knows the rules of the road or the safest ways to get around on two wheels. Bike Roswell will set up a Bike Safety Expo in Roswell’s Riverside Park for families and individuals to engage in best practices of biking around our community. No registration necessary; this event is free and open to the public.
- Nov. 5: Glass Blowing Demonstration with Janke Glass Studios, 1:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m.: Watch expert glass blowers from Janke Studios demonstrate the art of glass-blowing in their mobile studio at Riverside Park. Onlookers will have a close encounter as Atlanta Glass artist Matt Janke and his associates demonstrate this 2000-year-old art form.
- Dec. 3: Living History Performance at Tree Lighting, 5 p.m. to 7 p.m.: Step back in time with Roswell Historical Society’s “Living History” performance during the Tree Lighting ceremony at Historic Town Square. The Town Square sculpture, “Smoke,” reminds us of the historic Roswell Mill, which was a foundation of our community’s growth. Watch and engage as actors portray the life and times of historic mill workers and share their story with us in the new millennium.
ArtAround Roswell is the city’s very first sculpture tour, providing the community with an interactive way of experiencing public art. A partnership between the city and the Roswell Arts Fund, ArtAround Roswell is hosting ten established works of art on loan to the city by their artists.
