Automatic Parking Kiosks, App Approved For Canton Street
The Roswell City Council approved parking kiosks an app to improve on-street parking options on Elizabeth Way and Canton Street.

ROSWELL, GA — Parking will become a bit smoother on Canton Street and Elizabeth Way after the Roswell City Council approved the installation of a parking kiosk and smartphone application for parking.
There is no cost to initiate the smart phone application but the vendor, Park Mobile, does require a three year contract to partner with the City. Users of the Park Mobile application will have to pay a small convenience or processing fee of $0.35 per use, but if they use the kiosk there is no $0.35 fee. This phone application fee applies even if the user only parks during any established free period.
The council approved the parking rates for city-owned non-handicapped parking spaces along Elizabeth Way and Canton Street between Magnolia Street and Elizabeth Way.

This fee structure will be in effect on Oct. 1, or as soon as thereafter as is practicable and that the Mayor and Council, may from time to time, review and adjust the fees as deemed necessary, the resolution said.
At the May 28 Community Development and Transportation Committee Meeting, Mayor and Council directed staff to pursue two different paid parking technologies and research parking strategy for Canton Street and Elizabeth Way.
The two options included a parking kiosk and a smart phone application. The parking kiosk costs approximately $8,100.
Park Mobile indicated their smart phone application works with the new proposed kiosk and the existing kiosk in East Alley.
Users without a smart phone may call an 800 number to pay for parking.
The City may allow the use of either paid parking technology by vendors without seeking new procurement processes. This process would allow the City to contract with a vendor faster to get a paid parking option in operation. It is also recommended using the same paid parking rates as the ones used at the East Alley parking lot that were approved as part of the April 9, 2018 resolution. It is also recommended using current enforcement techniques under the initial implementation period and to consider hiring external parking management if the Council approves additional funding.
