Be THE Voice®, a peer-led anti-bullying program, will hold its first-ever Color Blast Fun Run on Sunday, Oct. 15 from 2-6 p.m. at Roswell’s Elkins Pointe Middle School (11290 Elkins Road, Roswell, GA 30076). Fun Run participants should register in advance at www.btvstopbullying.com/blast. A family pass for four is $40, and individual registrations are $15. The event will be held rain or shine and pets are not permitted. The Fun Run is presented by Righteous Guitars and all proceeds will benefit Be THE Voice®.
Throughout the afternoon, kids and adults will run or walk around the school’s track, and be showered in colorful powder on the hour at 3, 4 and 5 p.m. – with a BIG color BLAST Finale at 6 p.m. when prizes will be awarded to the most colorful participants! In addition, the day will include dance contests with prizes, a DJ, petting zoo, inflatables and a dunk tank, along with pumpkins! Food and refreshments will be available for $1 each.
Because studies show that bullying stops almost immediately when a bystander intervenes, BTV focuses on empowering students to find their VOICE and speak up when they witness a bullying situation. Be THE Voice® (BTV) was launched in eight schools (sponsored by The Roswell Rotary Club) in the Fall of 2015 and boasted a whopping 56% decrease in bullying at the program’s 2,200-student beta-test school. The results were calculated on results from the pre and post campaign student surveys. To date, 19 Georgia schools have implemented the BTV program, impacting over 20,000 students – in less than 18 months. Funds raised from the Color-BLAST Fun Run will help expand the program statewide. Frequent news and updates are posted on Facebook at www.facebook.com/BTVstopbullying.
