Best Summer Photo Ops in Roswell

There's no better time to capture child photography than summer. Here is a list of the best places in Roswell to take summer photos.

Believe it or not, summer in Roswell is already winding down - at least according to the Fulton County School calendar! By now you've probably crossed off a few of your summer bucket list items. You've been to the parks, the pools, the puppet series. Maybe you've ventured downtown to the High or the Children's Museum, or you've made the drive up 75 to Tellus. And sure, you've snapped a few pics along the way to document all the fun, but if you haven't yet captured a frame-worthy summer photo, you'll want to bring the kids and camera to these spots in the next couple weeks.

Sweet on Canton Street

Nothing says summer like ice cream, and Sweet Roswell is the perfect spot to catch the kids enjoying summer in all its messy and delicious glory. Find a spot in the shade to avoid overexposure (and squinty eyes!). Or if it's not too crowded, snap a few photos inside by the candy jars. The windows let in plenty of light and the ice cream won't melt as fast.

Chattahoochee River

One of my favorite places to photograph any time of year, but the summer presents the perfect opportunity to catch kids cooling off and having fun in the water. The resident geese provide endless entertainment for animal lovers too. Early morning or evening offers the best light, so pack a picnic and enjoy dinner by the water before your photo shoot.

Roswell Spraygrounds

What better way to beat the heat than at one of Roswell’s spray parks? My boys could spend hours running through the jets, and I love trying to capture their faces on camera as they get surprised by the cool water. This is the perfect spot to capture images that epitomize all things summer. It can be tough to get a good photograph in the bright sunlight though, so round everyone up for at least one group shot beneath one of the awnings.

Roswell Town Square

Whether you’re there for Alive After Five or just exploring on your own, the square is a great place to capture the perfect summer photo. Let the kids play on the steps of the gazebo or throw pennies in the fountain. Bring a ball or let them cartwheel across the lawn. The best photos aren’t posed but frozen moments of fun. Just be ready to use the photo burst option on your phone to capture all that action!

Most of us perpetually have our smartphones at the ready for a quick photo of the day’s activity, but planning a summer photo shoot at one of these locations can result in images you’ll cherish for longer than the lifecycle of your Facebook post. Good luck and be sure to use the hashtag #WheninRoswell when you post them.
