Big Bang Boom Kicks Off Roswell Family Series

The band will perform two shows on Friday, Aug. 26 at the Roswell Cultural Arts Center.

ROSWELL, GA -- The Roswell Family Series will start later this month with two performances by Big Bang Boom at the Roswell Cultural Arts Center.

Kids will love the high-energy show that sparks lots of singing and dancing to all-time favorite songs, as well as clever original tunes that mix alt-rock, hip-hop and country.

Chuck Folds (younger brother of Ben Folds), Steve Willard and Eddie Walker are the trio of talented dads who make up award-winning Big Bang Boom.

The band has been praised by Parenting magazine for producing “kids’ music you won’t be embarrassed to blast in the carpool line,” and they won the prestigious Grand Prize in the John Lennon Songwriting Contest for their children’s song “Monster Under the Bed” in 2011.

With three CDs of original music to their credit, they have performed at the celebrated Kidzapalooza stage at the Lollapalooza Music Festival, as well as Kindiefest, Musikfest, and many others.

Shows take place at the Roswell Cultural Arts Center at 10 a.m. and 4 p.m. on Friday, August 26.

Oct. 13: Goodnight Moon and The Runaway Bunny

The Mermaid Theatre of Nova Scotia is a renowned, internationally touring company that combines innovative puppetry, striking scenic effects, and evocative original music to provide young audiences with an effortless introduction to the performing arts and the excitement of reading. Presenting two of the most beloved children’s books of all time by Margaret Wise Brown, Mermaid Theatre’s staged adaptation of Goodnight Moon and The Runaway Bunny will bring these delightful stories to life. Shows take place at 10 a.m. and 1 p.m.

May 6, 2017: The Ugly Duckling and The Tortoise & the Hare

Internationally recognized Lightwire Theater will perform a stunning interpretation of two classic fairy tales through poignant choreography, glow-in-the-dark puppets and dazzling visual effects. Hans Christian Andersen's The Ugly Duckling is a wonderful story celebrating differences and transformation, while Aesop's The Tortoise and the Hare reminds audiences of the old adage, "Slow and steady wins the race." Shows take place at 10 a.m. and 1 p.m.
