I'm a California girl. I've always liked earthquakes much better than tornadoes, since I moved to Roswell, almost 7 years ago.
The reason? Because they surprise you.
You go about your life... living it to the fullest... and then they strike. No warning, no nothing.

Unlike tornadoes.
Tornadoes are a whole different ball game! First, you get to enjoy the lovely news that freaks you out (for our safety - grin)... telling you exactly where it is and how bad it is... then... you have to find shelter... only to be sitting in your big bath tub that you NEVER clean (because you only use it to bath the dog), anywhere from 15 minutes to an hour!

Last night... it was more serious than usual. We were enjoying our nightly UNO game and painfully listening to our dog bark at the lightening... and then... we were all commanded to get in the bathtub by my husband.
All I could see was "green" weather out the window. 80mph winds. It was truly awesome. I was wishing we could experience this unique weather on our balcony, to see it closer. (I'm weird like that). But instead, I was sitting in my dirty bathtub... with a freaked out dog on my lap and 11 year old next to me.
Then... came the hit. (Unbelievable... we aren't invincible afterall!)
Even though it could have been worse... it was surreal outside. The damage was more than I thought it would be. We are thankful that we are safe and that there was no damage to our individual condo in general, however, the roof came off the penthouse and we lost our electricity for the night.
So thankful today. We are safe and so are all our neighbors. We have our electricity back and all our grass fed frozen beef didn't spoil.
And they say the penthouse is the best! I'm no longer a believer!
