Butterfly Encounter Closes Next Week

Residents have just one more week to visit the Chattahoochee Nature Center to take advantage of its annual special exhibit showcasing the beauty of butterflies.

The last day of the Butterfly Encounter, which opened June 8, is Friday, July 31.
Community Programs Director Rebecca Gilbert said the Nature Center has seen thousands of people stop by and partake in the butterflies.

“We’ve had so many visitors come to enjoy the butterflies already this year,” she said. “In fact, we’ve seen close to 9,000 guests so far.”
All ages are sure to be amazed at the hundreds of butterflies that float above your head and fly below your nose. It’s easy to get up close to the butterflies, and you even have a chance to feed them using a nectar stick. Each of the species in the encounter is native to Georgia, the Nature Center said.
The Chattahoochee Nature Center’s regular hours are 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Saturday and noon to 5 p.m. Sundays. General admission is $6 for children, $10 for adults, $7 for seniors age 65 and older, $7 for students age 13 to 18 and free for Nature Center members and children under 2.
