Centennial Student Named 2017 Paralympics All-American

ROSWELL, GA - From Centennial High School: Cathryn Gray, a sophomore at Centennial High School, was named a 2017 U.S. Paralympics Track & Field High School All-American by U.S. Paralympics, a division of the United States Olympic Committee and TEAM USA. Now in its eighth year, the list honors the top high school track and field athletes who have a Paralympic-eligible impairment, based on their performances in the 2017 season. In total, 71 athletes—37 boys and 34 girls—were named to this prestigious list.

Cathryn was named as a 2017 All-American in two events, discus and javelin. Not only is she the only Georgia female on the very short list of U.S. High School women that includes U.S. Paralympians and World Champions, but she is coached by Centennial High School's own track and field coach, Mike Higgins, through BlazeSports America.

“We simply could not be more excited for Cathryn Gray and this tremendous accomplishment,” said Principal Kibbey Crumbley. “Cathryn is an inspiration to all Centennial Knights and we can’t wait to hear what she does next. It is very special to have both Cathryn and Coach Higgins hailing from Centennial. What a dynamic duo!”

Cathryn has now been invited to further TEAM USA Development camps and competitions, as well as to compete in the World Games in Sant Cugat, Spain this coming summer. She will also compete for Centennial High School track and field in the upcoming season.
