Centennial Student Wins 1st Place In Roswell Visual Arts Show

Jason Li won first place in the 2D Design category at the show, which is organized each year by the Roswell Fine Arts Alliance.

ROSWELL, GA -- Centennial High School student Jason Li won first place in the 2D Design category at the Roswell Visual Arts Show, which was held Jan. 20.

For many years, the Roswell Fine Arts Alliance has joined the Roswell Visual Arts Center in sponsoring an exhibition and competition for North Fulton County high school students. Coordinated through the art departments of the various schools, this show allows students selected by their teachers to enter an area-wide event.

Prizes are awarded to winners, with monetary prizes for Best of Show and First Place. Students show their best drawings, sculpture and paintings in this exciting collection of creativity.

The show is highly competitive, and each school may submit up to 10 pieces of art. Centennial has participated in the show for the last 20 years.

Many of the students who show at the event are AP Studio Art students so the caliber of work submitted is extremely high.

“This is an equivalent to winning Regionals in sports,” said John Riggins, AP art teacher at Centennial High School. “We have earned several second and third places in the past, but it is truly exciting to come home with a blue ribbon. Jason was excited to win and I’m very happy his talent was recognized at this prestigious event.”
