City Of Roswell Hosts The First Earth Day Fair At Mimosa Hall

Roswell's Earth Day event will including a tree planting ceremony with Mayor Kurt Wilson, family-friendly activities and entertainment.

ROSWELL, GA — The City of Roswell will celebrate Earth Day and promote sustainability Friday through a ceremonial tree-planting with Roswell Mayor Kurt Wilson, followed by family-friendly activities and food trucks.

The first ever Earth Day Fair will be from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Mimosa Hall & Gardens and the Bulloch Hall grounds. There will be activities, panel discussion and entertainment.

The tree planting will occur at 11:00 a.m. and the panel discussion will begin at 11:10 a.m. The panel will explore various topics regarding sustainability, green infrastructure and environmental protection.

Food trucks using fresh, sustainable ingredients will be available for guests to purchase food during the fair. The Creation Station, creative arts truck will also be onsite with art activities for kids to enjoy.

Roswell New Horizons Band is scheduled to provide entertainment for the afternoon as guests are encouraged to explore the grounds and participate in activities throughout the day.

“Participants will not only gain a better appreciation of the history of Mimosa Hall, but have the opportunity to learn the key initiatives of the City and enjoy a fun day of learning about the environment through activities, tours, discussion and engagement,” said Dena Bush, manager of Historic Assets division of the Roswell Recreation, Parks, Historic and Cultural Affairs department in a statement.

The purpose of the event is to educate, uplift and encourage activities that promote sustainability, green infrastructure, environmental protection and a healthy future for the Earth, according to a news release.

The Roswell Earth Day Fair will be hosted at Mimosa Hall & Gardens, one of the oldest net-zero building in the country, 100 percent powered by solar. During the event, Mimosa Hall will be open to tour for free and docents will be on site to answer questions.
