To help residents understand what the TSPLOST renewal is and how funds generated by the tax may continue to support future transportation projects, the City of Roswell is offering a series of public information meetings in both in-person and virtual formats.
TSPLOST—which stands for Transportation Special Purpose Local Option Sales Tax—is a ¾-of-a-penny sales tax that originally went into effect in April 2017, after voters approved it in November 2016. TSPLOST funds transportation projects like roads, bridges, sidewalks, and other improvements and is paid by anyone who buys taxable goods and services in Fulton County. The tax will expire in March 2022, unless Fulton County voters decide to renew it on Nov. 2.

The TSPLOST currently in effect is on pace to generate up to $84 million for transportation projects in the City of Roswell before it expires in March 2022. If a majority of Fulton County citizens, outside the City of Atlanta, vote in favor of the TSPLOST renewal on November 2, the sales tax will extend until March 2027 and may generate an additional $70-$80 million for the City of Roswell.
