🌱 Construction Begins On New Roswell Units + Open Houses

The quickest way to get caught up on the most important things happening today in Roswell.

Welcome back, Roswell. I'm here in your inbox this morning to get you caught up on everything you need to know about what's going on around town. Because community news matters! Let's dive in...

First, today's weather:

A t-storm around in the p.m. High: 83 Low: 60.

Here are the top five stories in Roswell today:

  1. Amidst an Atlanta apartment shortage, construction has begun on new apartment units in East Roswell. Led by ECI Group and Phoenix Capital, crews are demolishing the lifeless shopping center in the East Roswell area and replacing it with new residential units. The space will include townhomes, apartments, and retail areas. The unit, known as Averly East Village, is expected to be completed in late 2024. (The Business Journals)
  2. Looking for a new home? There are five new real estate listings hosting open houses in the Roswell area this weekend. See all the specifics at the link including dates, times, and addresses. (Roswell Patch)
  3. Roswell Police are asking parents to come forward if they believe their child has been abused or hurt by preschool teachers at Parker-Chase. As we previously reported, 40-year-old Zeina Alostwani and 19-year-old Soriana Briceno have been arrested on cruelty charges to children. Anyone with additional information can contact the Roswell Police Department at 770-640-4100. Anonymous information can be provided through Crime Stoppers Atlanta at 404-577-TIPS(8477) or online at www.StopCrimeATL.org. (11 Alive)
  4. Seventy Georgia churches have made the decision to leave the United Methodist Church, including Ebenezer UMC in Roswell. Last Thursday, the UMC North Georgia Conference stated that 70 congregations representing 9 percent of its churches and 3 percent of its members have chosen disaffiliation. The reason for the disaffiliation appears to be the ongoing debate over homosexuality in the denomination. The official disaffiliation date will be Jun. 30. (All On Georgia)
  5. The Fulton County School board has approved a $1.6 billion budget that includes 3 percent raises for employees beginning in July. The vast majority, $1.15 billion, will be in general funding for the district. The budget also includes a $2,000 pay bump for teachers and other eligible employees.
