Contractor Looking For Leaks In Roswell Water System

ROSWELL, GA — The Roswell Water Utility Division is taking a proactive approach to detect leaks in its system by using funds from Georgia Environmental Finance Authority’s (GEFA) Water Loss Technical Assistance Program.

Funds from program, awarded to the city in April 2017, are intended to pay for projects that have been identified through GEFA’s water loss audit process. Matchpoint, a water utility company contracted by GEFA, will be assisting the city by surveying about 45 miles of its water system. Matchpoint began surveying the system on Jan. 8 and is expected to be completed by early February.

Several tests will be performed on the water system, using listening devices to determine if there are potential leaks in hydrants, meters and sample/flush stations. If leaks are found, the city will be notified immediately in order to effectively repair when necessary. In some cases, water customers may experience a disruption in service for no more than a few minutes.

“We are pleased to find a solution to identifying and repairing leaks in our water system that is not only effective, but cost-efficient to the city’s water customers," said Roswell Water Utility Manager Chris Boyd. "The Water Utility’s mission is to produce and ensure the safe and reliable delivery of the highest quality of drinking water to its water customers."
