Here are the top five stories today in Roswell:
- Early voting begins today, Jun. 11, for Fulton County's Jun. 21 Runoff Election. From Saturday, Jun. 11 through Friday, Jun. 17, Fulton County will have 30 early voting locations available. Voting hours are between 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily. (Fulton County Government via Nextdoor)
- Monday, Jun. 13, will hold the second and final reading of the FY 2023 budget. The new budget, if approved, will go into effect on July 1. Roswell residents can review the budget online and ask questions at the upcoming meeting. (City of Roswell, Georgia Government via Facebook)
- Despite the city's limits, real estate developers have begun construction on luxury Roswell apartments. The development plan was approved by the city's previous administration and was inherited by the administration of current Roswell Mayor Kurt Wilson. (11Alive.com WXIA)
- Following the mass shootings in Uvalde and Buffalo, Fulton County schools will use a threat assessment tool to help keep kids safe. School systems partnered with state leaders this week in Athens for a safety summit, which included sessions from practicing active shooter scenarios to discussing policy improvements. (CBS 46 News)
- To fund the hiring of nine new full-time police officers, Roswell is applying for a $1,125,000 COPS grant. This federal grant will provide funding to assist with hiring additional officers to increase community policing capacity and crime prevention efforts.
