East Side Elementary Student wins State SAR Poster Contest

Piedmont Chapter Sons of the American Revolution in Roswell sponsors the contest.

The Piedmont Chapter of the Sons of the American Revolution participates each year in an Americanism Poster Contest sponsored by our National Society in which 4th grade students from the North Fulton-Cobb County area schools create posters depicting a Revolutionary War person or event. The contest is to encourage patriotism in young people and assist in their knowledge of our country’s struggle for freedom.

This year we had 49 posters submitted for judging from East Side Elementary in Marietta, Timber Ridge Elementary in Marietta, Fellowship Christian School in Roswell, and River Eves Elementary School in Roswell.

It was a very competitive contest, with great results by the participating students. Awards were given to the students at each school. In the end only one poster needed to be selected as our Piedmont Chapter winner to go to the Georgia State SAR competition. The chapter winner was Aidan Borja from East Side Elementary. He was awarded a total of $125 for being both his school and our Chapter’s winner

The first place winner was the Piedmont Chapter entry by 4th grade student Aidan Borja from East Side Elementary School in Marietta. Aidan’s award for winning the GA state poster contest was $150, and his poster is now entered in the SAR National Competition at our Congress in July. Aidan’s winning poster is shown above, along with other participating students from East Side Elementary.
