Nature Center To Host Fall Native Plant Sale
Fall is the PERFECT time for planting! Visit Chattahoochee Nature Center for native shrubs, flowers and trees at the Fall Native Plant Sale!
A great autumn project is to make your garden attractive to wildlife. You’ll be helping to restore lost habitats too. All you need to provide is food, water, cover and a place for wildlife to raise their young, while incorporating sustainable gardening practices. If you visit the Fall Native Plant Sale on September 25th and 26th, Friday and Saturday from 10-5 at the Chattahoochee Nature Center, you’ll find many of the best native plants to help you get started! We’ll also have assorted Groundcovers, Evergreens, veggies for the winter harvest along with Ferns, Buckeyes and native Azaleas.
Wildlife need to eat! Planting native shrubs, flowers and trees is the easiest way to provide the foliage, nectar, pollen, berries, seeds and nuts that many wildlife species need to survive and thrive. Native plants adapt easily, require less maintenance, and exhibit lower pest loads. You can also incorporate supplemental feeders and food sources. Our horticulturalist, Lisa Cole, says, “Hawthorn, Viburnum, Beauty Berry and Holly shrubs are great for adding color to attract our feathered friends. To attract pollinators and butterflies, remember to have something blooming through long seasons. Remember to plant host plants such as milkweed for Monarch Butterflies.” Creating a backyard wildlife habitat is easy if you follow these six simple directions.
1. Provide Food
2. Provide a water source
3. Provide shelter
4. Provide cover
5. Provide a place for them to raise their young
6. Let your garden GO GREEN!
