Since May 2015 there have been about eight armed robberies of Walmart stores in the metro Atlanta area that law enforcement officials believe to be related, the FBI said Friday.

All robberies listed below have a very similar modus operandi: between the hours of 10 p.m. and midnight, an armed robber wearing a surgical mask will enter the store, brandish a firearm and rob the nearest cashier.

“In at least two of these incidents, it is believed that there is a black female posing as a customer inside the store at the time of the robbery and it is believed she is coordinating efforts with the armed robber prior to the actual robbery occurring and then leaving the store after the robbery is conducted,” the FBI said.

So far, the feds are investigating incidents at the following locations:

  • 5/15/2015: 8424 Mall Parkway, Lithonia
  • 8/11/2015: 970 Mansell Road, Roswell
  • 8/18/2015: 4725 Ashford Dunwoody Road, Dunwoody
  • 9/13/2015: 7050 Highway 85, Riverdale

  • 10/01/2015: 6152 Covington Highway, Lithonia
  • 10/7/2015: 2395 Peachtree Parkway, Cumming (during this robbery, the robber allegedly fired a round into the floor by the cash register)

Along with the FBI, the Forsyth County Sheriff’s Office and the police departments of DeKalb County, Dunwoody, Roswell and Riverdale are all investigating the incidents.

The FBI states the suspect is described as a black male around 5’5’’ tall, who wears a surgical or dust mask as a disguise.

The agency also notes it’s possible that there are two different women allegedly serving as lookouts.
