Fellowship Christian Football Players Chosen For All Region Team

Three players were chosen for the Region 6A South All Region Team and six additional players were named to the second team.

Three players from the Fellowship Christian School varsity football team were chosen for the Region 6A South All Region Team. Additionally, six FCS players made the second team.

Senior defensive lineman Deklan Reid, sophomore linebacker Jack Hardin and junior offensive lineman Reed Kroeber made the first team. The trio helped the Paladins post a 4-6 overall record and narrowly miss reaching five wins for the second straight season under head coach Al Morrell and the fifth time in school history.

FCS was involved in tight games all season long, losing three games by the margin of one point, four points and seven points, while winning two games by five.

Making the second team for the Paladins were senior quarterback Shane Young, junior linebackers Clay Buchweitz, Jackson Pryor and Nick Thompson, senior defensive back Dalton Depew and junior placekicker Jake Williamson.

“It is an outstanding group of young men,” head coach Al Morrell said. “I am pleased that they were honored for their efforts on the football field. I am proud of these good young men. They were among our team’s leaders this season.”

Kroeber anchored an offensive line that opened holes this season for FCS runners to collect 2,091 yards on the ground.

Hardin finished the season first on the Paladins with 32 solo tackles, 75 assisted stops and 107 total tackles, while Reid ranked third on the squad with 61 assisted tackles and 75 total stops.

Young led the club with 650 rushing yards this season, and was second with six rushing touchdowns. The Paladins notched 716 passing yards this season, led by Young with 523 yards and four TDs.

Buchweitz ranked second on the squad with 82 total stops, including 66 assisted stops to finish second. Depew finished second on the FCS squad with 23 solo tackles. Reid and Pryor shared the team lead with four sacks apiece this season. Pryor, a first-year football player at FCS, led the club with two fumble recoveries, two forced fumbles and two blocked punts. Pryor’s 44 tackles (12 solo stops, 32 assists) ranked fourth on the Paladins. Thompson (14 solo, 29 assists) and Depew (20 assists) shared fifth on the club with 43 tackles.

Jake Williamson blocked one field goal to top the squad. He connected on 6-of-8 field-goal attempts, and made 12-of-15 extra-point kicks.
