Fellowship Christian Junior Competes in National Cross Country Championship

Emma Grace Hurley finished 24th among 40 of the country's top runners.

Fellowship Christian School junior Emma Grace Hurley completed the Foot Locker Cross Country National Championship race course at Morley Field at Balboa Park in San Diego, Calif., on Dec. 13 in 18:28. She finished 24th among 40 of the nation’s top runners.

Hurley helped the girls’ south squad capture the team competition for the first time in race history. Hurley was the sixth runner from the south team to cross the finish line.

Last month, the GHSA Single A state champion finished seventh among 177 runners in the 3.1-mile Foot Locker Cross Country South Regional held on at McAlpine Greenway in Charlotte, N.C., to qualify for the national race.

In November, Hurley became the first FCS athlete in school history to capture a state championship.
