A long-time Fellowship Christian School coach and teacher has been named head coach of the varsity girls’ basketball program.
Mike Kinsey, who just ended his 32nd year in education, has 25 years of experience as a basketball coach at the middle school, junior varsity and varsity levels. Kinsey takes over for Clay Price, who recently left FCS to become head girls basketball coach at Battle Ground Academy in Franklin, Tennessee.

“I am very pleased to select coach Kinsey for this new role,” Athletic Director Bryan Lindner said. “He is a veteran coach who is a true asset for our school. Coach Kinsey not only does a great job of helping his teams prepare for competition, win games and matches, but he helps young people grow a thriving relationship with Christ.”
In addition to coaching, Kinsey currently serves as department chair for the Bible department and was recently named dean of students for the high school. He has coached golf for 17 years, and is currently the head varsity golf coach at Fellowship.
“I am very excited to take this coaching position,” Kinsey said. “We have a strong nucleus of players returning including seven seniors. First of all, I would like to personally thank Coach Price for the outstanding job he has done the past eight seasons. He has made great strides in the girls’ program here, and the athletic department is grateful. Clay is a good friend and I will miss him, but I wish him nothing but the best in his next position.”
Coach Kinsey has shared some of his coaching philosophies:
- Our TEAM Purpose: to glorify Christ in everything we say and do on and off the court.
- Our TEAM Priority: to dedicate ourselves to work hard so that we can be the best TEAM God has created us to be.
- Our TEAM verse: “Do nothing out of selfish ambition or vain conceit, but in humility consider others better than yourselves.” (Philippians 2:3)
Legendary college basketball coach John Wooden has really influenced the coaching of Kinsey.
“The world measures success by how much you win,” Kinsey added. “John Wooden is one of my coaching heroes and a legend. He defined success as the peace of mind that comes from knowing you did your best to become everything you are capable of becoming. I am all about winning. It starts with working extremely hard at practice as well as on your own. We will set team and individual goals and will work very hard to try and achieve them.”
