Fellowship Student Posts Historic Time at Landmark Invitational
Emma Grace Hurley completed the 1,600-meter race in 4:56.75 to win the race, and finish with the 10th best time in state history.

Emma Grace Hurley is already showing her versatility as a runner in the first meet of the scholastic track and field season.
The Fellowship Christian School junior, who won the GHSA Single A Cross Country Championship this fall, recently opened the school’s varsity track and field season at the Landmark Invitational at Landmark Christian School with a historic performance.

Hurley completed the 1,600-meter race in 4:56.75 to win the race, and finish with the 10th best time in state history, unofficially. According to milesplitga.com, there are only nine times better than Hurley’s in Georgia history. Amanda Winslow of Collins Hill posted the best time ever of 4:44.97 at the 2009 GHSA State Meet on May 15, 2009.
Hurley’s was just over second away from matching the seventh-best time. Johns Creek High School runner Allie Buchalski posted a time of 4:55.65 at the 2013 GHSA Championships on May 9, 2013, which is sventh-fastest.

Nicky Akande of Collins Hill High School ranks eighth with a time of 4:55.75 posted on April 3, 2010, at Challenge of Champions event, and Mindy Lukens of Lassiter High School posted a time of 4:56.64 at the Region 6AAAA meet in 1985 to rank ninth.
