First Woman Set To Lead North Fulton Community Charities' Board

The election of Mary Good as president is the first time in the 36-year history of North Fulton Charities that a woman has led the board.

ROSWELL, GA — North Fulton Community Charities’ (NFCC) Board of Directors welcomed five new members for the 2020 fiscal year and the first female president of the board. The election of Mary Good as president is the first time in the 36-year history of the organization that a woman has led the board. Good is retired and has been a longtime community volunteer. She has served on the NFCC Board of Directors since 2012.

“I am passionate about community involvement and I’m looking forward to having the opportunity to increase our community engagement,” Good said. “NFCC was founded by the community coming together to take care of one another and we continue to do that today.”

New board members include Bill Brower, Vice President LexisNexis, Risk Solutions; Ken Davis, President of Renasant Bank; Gina Daunt, Roswell Fire Department; Julie Haley, CEO Edge Solutions; and Matt Powell, CFO/VP Business Development at DataScan.

New officers include Good as president; John Carpentier CPA, Principal at Windham Brannon as vice president; Bryan Apinis, Associate Pastor at North Point Community Church as treasurer; and Kathryn Albright, community relations at Emory Johns Creek Hospital as secretary.

Three retiring former Board Presidents, Jim Pope, Bruce Gunning and Stan Little, were honored by their peers with the new title of Board Member Emeritus.

“Over our 36 year history NFCC has been blessed with outstanding Board members and leaders,” said NFCC Executive Director Barbara Duffy. “Serving on NFCC’s Board of Directors is a labor of love and dedication.”

Founded in 1983, NFCC serves as a human service agency dedicated to building self-sufficiency and preventing homelessness and hunger for residents in North Fulton in the cities of Alpharetta, Johns Creek, Milton, Mountain Park and Roswell. NFCC assists families with basic essentials such as food, rent and utilities, and clothing for short- term emergencies. Adult education classes ranging from GED Prep and English to Financial Literacy and OSHA Certification are offered at no cost to help create a path to self-sufficiency for their clients. NFCC serves close 10,000 individuals and 4,000 families each year at their facilities in Roswell.
