After a stipulated bench trial held Tuesday morning, Rand Jason Csehy, 44, of Roswell, was found guilty of two counts of violating Georgia’s Controlled Substances Act, Cobb County District Attorney Vic Reynolds said.

The first count originated when Cshey appeared in court as the defense attorney for a trial on Sept. 15, 2014, while under the influence of methamphetamine, the district attorney’s office said.

Then, while on bond, he was required to undergo drug tests, and the second count stems from a positive test for meth on Jan. 20, 2015.

“This case is an example of no one being above the law,“ Reynolds said. “This defendant was a practicing attorney and former prosecutor, but he was held accountable for his actions because the evidence was present pointing to his guilt.”

A stipulated bench trial is a non-jury trial where the defendant acknowledges the facts of the case and is sentenced, but maintains the right to appeal.

Chief Assistant District Attorney Don Geary prosecuted the case. After hearing from both sides, Cobb County Superior Court Judge A. Gregory Poole sentenced Csehy to six years of probation.

Atlanta attorney Daniel Kane represented Csehy.
