Here are the top five stories in Roswell today:

  1. City and county officials have recently announced the kickoff of a new community court watch program in which residents can monitor repeat offender cases. Atlanta Mayor Andre Dickens and Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis made the announcement and explained citizens can sign up to be members of "Court Watch" to see proceedings in person or on live video. According to city officials, the program is about accountability and ensuring there are appropriate consequences for repeat offenders. (FOX 5 Atlanta)
  2. The Roswell Police Department has welcomed a new K9 Officer to their ranks. Officer R. Ateca introduced K9 Goose, a 1-year-old yellow Labrador Retriever, to the public for the first time since joining the department outside Crazy Love Coffee on Canton Street from 8:30-10:30 a.m. June 9. The duo make up the Explosive Ordinance Detection team and will work within the Community Relations Unit of the Roswell Police Department. (Alpharetta-Roswell Herald)
  3. Restaurateur Ryan Pernice brings tacos and tapas to Oak St. at Roswell's newest hot spot. The restaurant features traditional Spanish tapas and bold Latin American influences from Chef Laura Orellana, who is originally from El Salvador and was trained in Seville, Spain.   4. The average price of gas in Fulton County is currently $4.55 per gallon, among the highest in Georgia. Average gas prices across the state have also increased by 21 cents since last week — and up by $1.57 from this time last year.
