Fulton Schools Chief Information Officer Wins Prestigious Award
Serena Sacks is the recipient of the Georgia CIO Leadership Association's 2017 CIO of the Year® ORBIE® Award.

ATLANTA, GA -- Serena Sacks, the Fulton County School System's chief information officer, has been named a winner of the Georgia CIO Leadership Association’s 2017 CIO of the Year® ORBIE® Award. The award honors professionals who have demonstrated excellence in technology leadership, the school system said.
The association recognized chief information officers in six key categories – Lifetime Achievement, Healthcare, Global, Enterprise, Corporate and Nonprofit. Sacks was honored in the Nonprofit Public Sector category.
“I am truly honored to be recognized with this extraordinary group of professionals whose work has transformed our industry,” Sacks said. “This award acknowledges the dedication of my colleagues at Fulton County Schools who are committed to supporting and encouraging our children to become problem-solvers and leaders. I am delighted to accept it on their behalf.”

The Georgia CIO Leadership Association is the preeminent professional association for Georgia chief information officers. The association’s membership is comprised exclusively of CIOs (or equivalent executive roles) from public and private companies, government, education, healthcare and nonprofit organizations.
The CIO of the Year ORBIE Award is the premier technology executive recognition program of its kind. Finalists and winners are selected by an independent peer review process, led by previous ORBIE recipients, based upon the following:

With more than 30 years of transformational business and technology experience across multiple sectors, Sacks became CIO of Fulton County Schools in May 2014. Since joining the school district, she also has been honored as one of Women in Technology’s Women of the Year for her outstanding leadership and for promoting and mentoring women and young girls in technology careers.
Sacks received the CIO of the Year® ORBIE® Award on Nov. 15 at a special ceremony at the Cobb Galleria, with nearly 1,000 professionals representing leading Georgia organizations and their technology partners.
Since inception in 1998, more than 500 CIOs have been honored as finalists and more than 100 CIO of the Year winners have received the association’s prestigious ORBIE Award.
