Changes will soon deployed to continue resolving issues related to the Fulton County's handling of the 2008 and 2012 elections.
It is Aug. 5 meeting, the Fulton County Commission approved the purchase of an election/asset management system and poll worker online training software system.
Recommended by the county's Department of Registration and Elections, both purchases are designed to help the agency to continue resolving issues that arose during the 2008 general election and general election runoff as well as the 2012 primary and general elections.
"The approval to implement these two systems should improve our department's ability to conduct elections more efficiently," states Rick Barron, director of the Fulton County Department of Registration and Elections. "The 2016 election year is fast approaching, and having these two systems in place will enable us to be better prepared for the expected increase in turn out due to it being a presidential election year."
The department will enter an agreement with Woodstock-based Easy Vote Solutions, LLC for an election/asset management system in the amount of $153,000.
The system will provide online applications on a single platform for campaign finance reporting, poll book, project and task management and inventory management capabilities.
The department will also purchase a poll worker online training system for $59,500 from Tampa-based SOE Software d/b/a Scytl. This program will be used to enhance classroom training for seasonal and temporary employees hired to work the polls.
