Georgia Connections Academy To Host Information Session in Roswell

Georgia Connections Academy is an online virtual charter school providing education to students in kindergarten through 12th grade.

Georgia Connections Academy, the state’s top academic performing virtual charter school and provider of a free, completely online K-12 education to students in every county, has opened enrollment for the 2016-2017 school year. The school invites prospective families to attend an in-person information session in Roswell to learn more.

The information sessions will review the school’s curriculum, programs and provide opportunities for interested families to ask questions of teachers and currently enrolled families.

The Roswell session will be held from 6:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. Wednesday, June 15 at Holiday Inn Atlanta/Roswell, which is located at 909 Holcomb Bridge Road.

The school is headquartered in Duluth at 2763 Meadow Church Rd., Ste 208 but enrollment is open to students from every county. This is a free, public fully virtual charter school.

In 2014, GACA students outscored their peers across the state on the SAT and was also the top performing Georgia virtual school on this graduate exam.

According to a survey, 36 percent of families who chose to enroll at GACA felt the need for an alternative local public school and 94 percent of all GACA parents would recommend the school to other families.

“Georgia Connections Academy gives my children more classroom and curriculum choices, while giving me the opportunity to be more involved in their schooling,” said parent Angela Ray.

The top reasons parents choose a virtual charter, like GACA, for their children, according to CEO Robinson, are:

· The student requires or wants greater flexibility;

· The student wants a change from their local school;

· The student wants a safe learning environment.

"Sometimes students need a break from the traditional brick-and-mortar setting and find that a virtual public charter school can help them catch up or take a break from the day-to-day peer pressures of school," said Executive Director Robinson. "We provide a change of mindset."
