Charles Andrews is a retired engineer whose life-long hobby of trout fishing in the mountains of Georgia introduced him many years ago to American azaleas. Field and literature research lead him to conclude our native azaleas are a complex group of plants. Charles writes and gives presentations on azalea topics. He is currently working on two books about native azaleas. He is president of the Azalea Chapter of the American Rhododendron Society and a member of the Azalea Society of America.
Mr. Andrews has long been interested in utilizing native plants in landscaping. He has transplanted wild Rhododendrons and Magnolias with other native species to his own landscape and cataloged hundreds of colors, size, shape and growing needs. He is a strong advocate for use of these beautiful, drought-tolerant plants.
