🌱 Gov. Extends Gas Tax Suspension + Weekend Thunderstorms + Eye Exams

Here are the top five stories today in Roswell:
- Yesterday, Jul. 1, Gov. Brian Kemp signed an executive order to extend the suspension of Georgia state gas taxes. Instead of expiring on Jul. 14, the gas tax suspension will expire on Aug. 13. According to GasBudy, the average price of a gallon of regular on Jul. 1 was $4.50 in Fulton County. (Georgia Patch)
- Forecasters reported that a hazardous weather outlook is in effect for Fulton County over the Fourth of July weekend. There will be thunderstorms, strong to damaging winds, and frequent lightning this weekend until Monday night. (Roswell Patch)
- There will be free eye exams and free glasses for kids aged 5 to 18 on Jul. 25 from 9:30 a.m to 3:00 p.m. at Roswell Library, located at 115 Norcross Street in Roswell. All attendees must pre-register and fill out a form. (Friends Of Roswell Library)
- For 2022, the Children's Development Academy, a Roswell nonprofit child care center, received a perfect three-star quality rating from the Georgia Department of Early Care and Learning. Only ten percent of the eligible centers receive three starts, which is the highest rating possible. Children's Development Academy has received three stars every year since 2015. (Appen Media)
- Riley Jackson, a student at Blessed Trinity Catholic High School in Roswell, was named the 2021-2022 Gatorade National Girls Soccer Player of the Year. The award recognizes athletic excellence, academic achievement, and exemplary character demonstrated on and off the field. (Soccer Wire)
