Great American Cover Up Quilt Show Starts March 9
From March 9 to 18, the show will showcase work about the 59 National Parks in the U.S.

From Bulloch Hall: Bulloch Hall Quilt Guild hosts a special exhibit March 9th through the 18th of quilted art that represents the 59 designated National Parks in the United States. There are 177 pieces in the collection that will be displayed at Bulloch Hall. Each National Park is represented by 3 originally designed quilted illustrations - one landscape measures 20"X 40" (some are vertical and some are horizontal) and two 20" square pieces featuring the flora and fauna unique to each of the representative parks. There is a strong historical connection between Bulloch Hall, which was the childhood home of Theodore Roosevelt’s mother, Mittie Bulloch, and the beginnings of the National Park System.
In honor of the National Park theme of the exhibit, Dr. Drew Lanham, author of The Home Place-Memoirs of a Colored Man’s Love Affair with Nature, will be at Bulloch Hall on Monday, March 12 to talk about his book. Dr. Lanham is Alumni Distinguished Professor of Wildlife Ecology at Clemson University and is a native of South Carolina. He will do a reading and sign books from 1-3 p.m. in the afternoon.
From 6-8 p.m. on March 12, Bulloch Hall holds a reception at which visitors may meet Dr. Lanham. The cost of the reception is $7. Questions about the quilt show and other resources may be directed to Quilt Guild representative Holly Anderson at quiltholly@bellsouth.net
