Halloween Events Kick Off Friday In Roswell

The city will host a Halloween Fun House, a mother/son dance and family-friend tours at Smith Plantation.

ROSWELL, GA -- Roswell residents looking for Halloween events catering to their little ghouls and goblins won't have a shortage of opportunities to choose from, as the city has at least three chances for youngsters to celebrate the holiday.

The city's events will kick off Friday, Oct. 27 with its Halloween Fun House. The event, which is free for children age 8 and under, will be held from 4:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at the East Roswell Recreation Center at 9000 Fouts Road. Events lined up include face painting, carnival games, inflatables, hayrides and more.

On Sunday, Spooktacular Night at Smith Plantation will run from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 28. The cost is $5 per person, but free for kids under 5 (SIGN UP: Get Patch's Daily Newsletter and Real Time News Alerts. Or, if you have an iPhone, download the free Patch app).

Spooktacular Night includes family-friendly tours of the home. Children are encouraged to wear their costumes as they take in spooky ghost stories, trick or treating and the chance to make s'mores. These treats can be washed down with hot chocolate or apple cider. Smith Plantation is at 935 Alpharetta Street. Reservations are required and can be made by calling 770-641-3978.

Also on Saturday, Roswell will host its Mother/Son Halloween Dance from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. at in the Bill Johnson Community Activity Building at Roswell Area Park. The cost is $12 for residents and $18 for non-residents. Boys of all ages with mothers, grandmothers and other mother figures are invited to come out and hit the dance floor.
