Havana Son To Bring Latin Tunes To Roswell Riverside Sounds
The first concert for the 2015 season will take place on Saturday, May 2.

The annual Roswell Riverside Sounds concert season begins on Saturday, May 2, with Latin music group Havana Son.
The group will serenade audiences in a free concert from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. at Riverside Park.

For those who’d like to grab a bite to eat before the show, two popular food trucks will be on site for the first concert starting at 6 p.m.: On TAPA the World and Hail Caesar.
“We are looking forward to having Havana Son kick off the concert series this season,” said Morgan Rodgers, director of Roswell’s Recreation, Parks and Historic and Cultural Affairs Department. “Their mix of Latin and American sounds is sure to have the crowd on their feet.”

Havana Son plays authentic Latin rhythms such as Salsa, Merengue, Son, Cha Cha, Boleros, Bachata, Vallenato and Cumbia. The duo has been in Atlanta for the last 12 years playing at venues and festivals around the region, including the Atlanta Dogwood Festival, Riverbend Music Festival in Chattanooga, Centennial Olympic Park Music at Noon and many more.
They are a member of Young Audiences/Arts 4 Learning, Woodruff Arts Center, where they produce an in-school educational music program for children about Latin music.
Havana Son was created by Cuban native Rene Herrera, an award-winning composer and arranger and former Mercury Records recording artist. This world-renowned bandleader brings music to life through his use of piano, vocals, guitar and TRES (Traditional Cuban Stringed Instrument).
Havana Son’s second member, Llilian Herrera, also is of Cuban heritage and adds her unique vocal style to the mix, having sung professionally in the classical music world as well as with many Latin bands. She graduated with a degree in music from the Conservatory of Music in Cincinnati, Ohio and also studied Opera at Boston University under the training of Carlo Bergonzi, one of the top vocal coaches in the world.
Roswell Riverside Sounds will be held on the first Saturday of the month from May through October from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. at Riverside Park. In July, the concert will be held on the second Saturday due to the July 4 holiday.
The concerts are produced by the Roswell Recreation, Parks, Historic and Cultural Affairs Department. Riverside Sounds is sponsored by the Roswell Neighbor; Lee J. Howard Entertainment; Spencer Pest Control; and Scroggin & Company, P.C.
