Houze-Hembree Intersection To Close March 24-27

The intersection in Roswell is undergoing a massive overhaul, as it will be the site of a new roundabout.

ROSWELL, GA -- The intersection of Houze Road at Hembree Road will close next weekend in connection to work installing a roundabout.

The Georgia Department of Transportation will close the intersection from 8 p.m. Friday, March 24 to 5 a.m. Monday, March 27 so the contractor can stage construction to shift traffic onto the new roadway of the intersection's partially completed roundabout.

Traffic will be detoured using Alpharetta Highway (Highway 9), Crossville Road (Highway 92) and Rucker Road. Detour signage will be in place, and city of Roswell public safety crews oversee traffic flow along the detour route.

The Houze/Hembree roundabout will be one of the first multi-lane roundabouts on a state route. The estimated date of completion is Fall 2017.

The primary purpose of the roundabout is to relieve congestion and improve safety at the intersection. The project also includes a multi-use trail on the south side of Hembree Road that will connect with the existing trail at Upper Hembree Road.
