An old school hand-set stone chimney - a beautiful thing - except when no one pays attention and we allow Mother Nature to take over. The chimney cap was not maintained and so much moisture flows through the many mortar joints and around the beautiful stone work that snails are living in the mortar cracks more than twenty feet above the ground and the old andirons in the fireplace are rusted to the fire brick.
