Hurricane Irma: Fulton Makes Decision On Thursday Classes (UPDATED)

Power has been restored to all schools in the district, the system confirmed Wednesday evening.

ROSWELL, GA -- More than two days after Hurricane Irma moved through Georgia, the Fulton County School System will return to a sense of normalcy on Thursday, Sept. 14.

All schools are scheduled to open at their normal hours. The system initially reported four schools -- Conley Hills, S.L. Lewis, Feldwood and Wolf Creek elementary schools -- were the only ones without power and were in jeopardy of not opening for Thursday.

However, those schools have had their power lines restored, and the system is ready to return to the task of educating its 96,000 students (SIGN UP: Get Patch's Daily Newsletter and Real Time News Alerts. Or, if you have an iPhone, download the free Patch app).

"Fulton County Schools extends its gratitude to the power providers and their employees who worked tirelessly to get schools back online as well as the emergency personnel who cleared trees and other debris to make roads safe for school buses and other drivers," it said.
