“One of my goals as an elected official in Georgia is to ensure our students are receiving the best education possible,” the Republican senator from Roswell said. “Through my experience as Principal for a Day, I was able to witness the day to day challenges principals face. This experience was enlightening and I can’t wait to do it again next year.”

Mountain Park Elementary School Principal Stacy Perlman said it was a “pleasure” to have Albers at the school.

“He greeted students in carpool, started the day with our morning news, solved a technology problem for the administration, taught students about government and legislation and stepped in and ran our fire drill after our custodian had to leave unexpectedly,” Perlman stated. “Sen. Albers is a true example of service above self.”

Each year, schools across Fulton County help community leaders learn firsthand what it takes to lead a school when they become Principal for a Day.

Business and community leaders are provided with the opportunity to tackle many of the regular duties that school leaders face each day, and to learn how rewarding it is to be an educator.

Now in its eighth year, the program is held annually during American Education Week, which falls this year during November 16-20.
