Kohl's To Close Roswell Store

ROSWELL, GA -- Kohl's plans to close 18 under-performing stores this year, and one of those locations is in Roswell.

The closures are part of the company's plan to pilot several smaller stores and venture into the outlet business.

A total of three will close in Georgia. Those stores are:

• 2342 Holcomb Bridge Road, Roswell;
• 2929 Turner Hill Road, Lithonia; and
• 4820 Briarcliff Road, Atlanta.

Kohl's notes the location in Lithonia will close Nov. 1 while the Roswell and Briarcliff Road stores will shutter operations June 19.

The company said decision to roll out the closures came after closely evaluating the performance of the stores, including factors such as rent and expenses involved in operation and other elements that contributes to a store's success.

"An important part of this decision was to ensure we could take care of every impacted store associate," the company added. "We are proud to share (that) every eligible store associate will be offered the opportunity to work at a nearby Kohl’s or, if they choose, can accept a competitive severance package."

Each store employs an average of 80 to 100 associates. Those customers in affected markets will "continue to receive the same exceptional customer service, amazing products and incredible savings at surrounding store locations, as well as on Kohls.com and Kohl’s mobile app," Kohl's states.
