Library Renovation Project Starts In Roswell

The Atlanta-Fulton Public Library System has kicked off exterior construction work on the seven branches in Group 1 of its project.

ROSWELL, GA — Various external improvements are underway at seven branches in the Atlanta-Fulton Public Library System. Exterior construction work began this week at the Sandy Springs, Dogwood, Southwest, Roswell, Kirkwood, Washington Park and West End branches.

Exterior work will take place from April through August of this year, and will include roof repairs, pressure washing, gutters, exterior paint, brick repairs, and fencing. The renovations are part of Phase II of the library system's Capital Improvement Plan, which includes overhauling 23 library branches and the system's downtown Atlanta headquarters, Central Library. The project is expected to take place through late 2020.

Dr. Gabriel Morley, director of the library system, said tackling the exterior work while the branches remain open will reduce the amount of time needed to close each building for interior renovations.

“We know there will be some inconvenience, but our end goal is to modernize and upgrade our libraries with minimal impact to service delivery," Morley added. "We believe this is the best way to accomplish that mission.”
