m-pact Brings Holiday Blend of Pop, Jazz To Roswell

A cappella sensation, m-pact, will take the stage for a special holiday concert next month in Roswell.

The group will take the city by storm at 8 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 19 at the Roswell Cultural Arts Center. The show is the third production in the 2015-2016 LIVE! in Roswell concert series.

Hailed as “one of the best pop-jazz vocal groups in the world” by the San Francisco Chronicle, m-pact is respected worldwide as a trailblazer in the realm of vocal music. The Los Angeles-based sextet demonstrates the fresh, raw power of the human voice.

m-pact has performed with pop superstars Sheryl Crow, Boyz II Men, Kenny G, Liza Minnelli, Babyface, Rick Springfield and Jackson Browne; with legendary musicians including Ray Charles, Natalie Cole, and Bobby McFerrin; as well as the Woody Herman Orchestra and the Maynard Ferguson Big Band. The group’s signature sound has been used in both TV themes and animated Disney feature films and is enjoyed on syndicated radio worldwide.

In Roswell, m-pact will perform selections from its award-winning Christmas album, “The Carol Commission,” plus a few other surprises. As seen in the PBS Special “Christmas from LA,” the warmth and elegance of m-pact pairs perfectly with an evening of holiday favorites.

Doors open to the lobby at 7 p.m., and a special selection of holiday desserts will be available for purchase prior to the show. Doors to the theatre open for General Admission seating at 7:30 p.m.

December 16 – 18: The North Pole Fa-La-La-La Follies has Lee Bryan “That Puppet Guy” returning to Roswell with another captivating show. Get ready for hilarious holiday high-jinx as some talented residents of the North Pole perform in their annual talent show.

The zany and colorful cast of characters includes a wisecracking fruitcake, a musical goose, tumbling teddy bears, a duo of dancing deer, the “not-so-abominable” snowman and much, much more. This sparkling holiday production combines music, live vocal performance and a variety of beautifully costumed hand puppets and rod puppets. All Shows will begin at 4 p.m. Tickets are $5 each (children under 2 are free).

December 19 – 21: Santa’s Missing Mail – Ominous Crook and his sidekick, Skellmutt, are two dastardly bad guys who are out to stop Christmas by stealing Santa Claus’ mail. You’ll meet some panicked elves, a wise-cracking reindeer, a dim-witted superhero and Santa, himself. The audience will also give David’s friend, Fitzgerald, some help in writing a letter to St. Nick.

This production, written by David Stephens, debuted in 1998 and is being brought back by All Hands Productions for the holiday season. Shows on Saturday and Monday begin at 10 a.m.; the Sunday show will begin at 2 p.m. Tickets are $5 each (children under 2 are free).
